It was fabulous to meet all of the new children and parents of 6D this afternoon! I can already tell we are going to have an equally fabulous year! The 6D kids seemed to enjoy their new surroundings and the popsicles were a huge hit. Thank you, Calvert Admissions for planning such a wonderful time together.
Looking forward to seeing my new friends tomorrow-
Love,

After spending many hours cleaning and organizing 6D, I wanted to share a few photos with you! I am getting excited for the 6's to arrive on the first day because...
...there is mail waiting to be mailed!
...games waiting to be played!
...special jobs waiting to be completed! (including the job of: line leader, line ender, door holder, flag and prayer, calendar, schedule, weather, messenger, supplies helper, mailbox checker, chair checker, and snack helper)
....artwork waiting to cover the walls!
...a science center waiting to be explored!
...blocks waiting to be built!
...and books waiting to be read!
A fun year awaits us...T minus 6days!

Newport and a Birthday Feast!
I began this month with a long weekend trip to Newport, Rhode Island. It is a beautiful town on the water! My husband and I stayed in a bed and breakfast called The Hydrangea House Inn. Hydrangeas are my favorite flower- this is actually how we narrowed down our online search! It turned out to be an absolutely quiet and relaxing respite.
During our first full day in Newport we rode our bikes to the Salve Regina University cliffwalk. It was breathtaking!
We also found some snails hanging out on the sidewalk.
In addition, we took a beautiful sail around the Newport Harbor. Did you know the Newport Bridge is on the back of the Rhode Island state penny?
On our last day we toured The Breakers mansion, a summer home built for the Vanderbilt family at the end of the nineteenth century. One room was painted in platinum! My favorite part of the mansion was the view. It is called "the breakers" because of the waves that break at the base of the cliff, right on the property. One of my favorite movies, The Great Gatsby, was filmed at The Breakers mansion.
Yesterday we celebrated my best friend's birthday with a crabfeast in my backyard!
And who could forget the birthday cake?!
In the meantime I have begun preparing for an exciting year! 6D Parents- please be on the lookout for a letter in the mail from yours truly!
