In Fine Motor, we used marshmallows and q-tips to make letters. The students were very creative and seemed to enjoy this activity!
The marshmallows smelled so yummy, that each student had a handful from the bag!

In Reading, we are practicing how to write sentences correctly. The students wrote a sentence about the story this week, Jack and Rick, and drew a picture.
Each student did a wonderful job!
Our Author of the Month is Tomie DePaola. We read a story called The Legend of the Bluebonnet and each child came up with a new name for themselves, like the girl in the story. Here are some examples:
The students used describing words in order to create their new names. I loved hearing how they described themselves!

In Math this week, we have been counting, recognizing, and representing numbers. We used fruit loops and had a lot of fun!
The students had to write the numbers and then use the fruit loops to represent each number. When we were finished, we ate all of it up!
Today was the Multicultural Festival! We read the book, The Crayon Box that Talked by Shane DeRolf. Then, we created crayon self portraits.
We also discussed a Native American tradition of using a "talking stick" to share our thoughts and experiences. Whoever had the "talking stick" would share, while everyone else would listen to their friend. Students were eager to share about their families and fun experiences they have had!
6D celebrated Halloween yesterday by dressing in festive costumes and parading in the gym! They later partied the afternoon away, and most saved time for trick-or-treating at home. Yay, 6D!
