We are learning about Henri Matisse in Discovery. He was a french artist who "painted with scissors"! Did he really use paints? NOO! But he did use scissors to create fabulous pictures with lots of color.
Our first step in this project, after learning about Matisse, was to collect leaves. We collected a variety of interesting fall leaves at Molly's Garden, then brought them back to the classroom as inspiration.
Some friends stenciled the leaves before cutting them out, others eyed the shape, and cut out a similar-looking shape out of paper.
Here are the beginning products! We will continue working on our Matisse masterpieces next week!
