Favorite Puzzles and Games

The students shared their favorite puzzles and games last week during our structured Sharing time.  Many students were so enthusiastic about teaching their game to friends that I decided to allow them the opportunity to play these together this week.  This is a candid shot of some students playing Candyland, which seems to be a favorite.  I have been so impressed by how well they are sharing their games, teaching their friends, and resolving conflicts as they come along.  Keep up the good work, 6D!

Spring Break for 6D

Last week's sharing was to bring in something from your spring break.

This friend brought in shells from her vacation on Water Island in the Carribbean.

Here are some additional photos of her having fun in the sun!

This friend made a Star Wars book over the break. Lots of writing and colorful pictures were inside! Nice cover!

This girl played lacrosse (a spring sport) over break.

This friend brought in a cool Hawaiian box. Inside was a homemade beaded necklace and bracelet.
This girl visited Epcot in Disneyland! She brought back a mask and sweet chocolate from Italy!

This boy went to the Baltimore zoo! What a cool stuffed animal!

This boy brought in lots of shells from his trip to the beach in Jamaica!

This friend built a model airplane which was purchased from the National Air and Space Museum!

This friend brought in photos of herself on the beach in the Dominican Republic! And yes, that is a real monkey!

This friend brought back shells from the beach in Florida!

Something Made Of Wood

This week's sharing was "something made of wood". We brainstormed as a class a week before on possible items to bring in. These included a bird's nest, a stick from outside...a friend suggested they could bring in their bed from home! We decided the bed would probably be too large to fit inside of our bookbag. I was a little curious what would come in to school, and I was truly surprised on Monday morning when sharing began...(drum roll please):
A seesaw from a dollhouse is made of wood.

A box decorated with gems in made of wood.

This is a wooden frog. When you take the peg from it's mouth and roll it over it's back, it makes a frog sound!

A golfball; the brown one is made of wood.

Jenga is a game made of wooden rectangular blocks.

This friend brought in 3 wooden animal cars, and a town made of wood!

A surfboard keychain is made of wood

This friend decorated a wooden birdhouse!

This friend built a wooden model jeep!

These toy animals are made of wood.

This is a letter from this friend's name, and (yes, you guessed it)- it's made of wood!

These are teeny tiny wooden people.

And these are ladybugs!

YAY for Sharing!

Photo of Your Family

Sharing is a special time in 6D! If it is our turn to share, we are allowed to sit in the rocking chair and wear a special crown. If we are listening to a friend share, we make sure to sit quietly in a circle on the rug- crisscross applesauce, eyes opened, ears opened, lips closed. Here is a photo of a friend sharing a photo of his family.
